In a recent interview I managed to chat with Nalini Krishan, who portrayed Jedi Padawan Barriss Offee in the prequel trilogy.
Barriss Offee was a female Mirialan who trained as a Jedi Padawanduring the Clone Wars. She carried a blue lightsaber and trained under Jedi Master Luminara Unduli.Offee was a survivor of the Battle of Geonosis and was extremely loyal to her Jedi Master. Offee preferred studying ancient Jedi texts to fighting and was a bit older than most Jedi Padawans.
Next up on the Who’s Who in the Star Wars Universe segment is Jedi Master Kit Fisto. Fisto quickly became one of my favourite Jedi’s when I first saw him on screen in Attack of the Clones and my love for him continues to grow after seeing his character development in the Clone Wars animated series. The majority of this information has been collected from Wookieepedia.
His skills with a lightsaber are unrivalled and, as a Nautolan his aptitude for surviving in harsh environments will prove invaluable.“
―Mace Windu on Kit Fisto
Kit Fisto became a Jedi General of the Clone Army in the Clone Wars and took part in such conflicts as the Mission to Vassek 3 and the Battle of Mon Cala. He was also involved in a mission with his former Padawan Nahdar Vebb to capture the escaped prisoner, Nute Gunray—however, the two ended up facing the notorious Jedi hunter General Grievous inside his lair. While Vebb perished at the hands of the General, Fisto very nearly bested him in combat, and escaped with his life, but without Gunray, ultimately making the mission a failure. At some point during the Clone Wars, Fisto was accepted a member of the Jedi Council.
In a recent interview, I managed to catch up with Tim Lebbon, the author behind Dawn of the Jedi: Enter the Void.
Primarily a Horror and Dark Fantasy author, in 2013 Tim was brought in to write a novel for the biggest franchise in the world and I was lucky enough to ask him a few questions about his time writing the book.
“Thank you for believing in me, General.”
“It is not a matter of belief, Fives. It is simply the right thing to do.”
―Fives and Shaak Ti
Shaak Ti was a female Togruta Jedi Master and member of the Jedi Council who served the Jedi Order in the waning years of the Galactic Republic. During the three-year conflict of the Clone Wars, she took the rank of Jedi General and supervised the training of the Republic’s Clone troopers on Kamino. Ti was killed whilst meditating during the attack on the Jedi Temple by Darth Vader.
―Ki-Adi-Mundi, to Padme Amidala, about Count Dooku
Ki-Adi-Mundi, a Force-sensitive Cerean male, was a Jedi Master and member of the Jedi High Council during the last years of the Galactic Republic. By the time of the Clone Wars, Mundi became a Jedi General of the Grand Army of the Republic. Like his Jedi colleagues, he led the Republic clone troopers against the Separatist Alliance forces in several battles across the galaxy, including the first and second campaign on Geonosis and the Outer Rim Sieges. In 19 BBY, the third and final year of the war, Mundi oversaw the Republic invasion of Mygeeto with the Galactic Marines under his command. During the campaign, Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine instructed the Grand Army soldiers to execute their Jedi leaders in accordance with Order 66, an act which resulted in the death of Mundi along with the majority of the Jedi Order.
“Sergeant, why are you so certain no one is coming?“
“We’re just clones, sir. We’re meant to be expendable.“
“Not to me.“
―Plo Koon to Sergeant Sinker
Plo Koon was a Kel Dor Jedi Master serving as a member of the Jedi High Council during the last years of the Galactic Republic. He frequently undertook dangerous missions and was also responsible for the discovery of Ahsoka Tano. Plo Koon participated in the Battle of Geonosis as well as becoming a General throughout the Clone Wars. Throughout the Clone Wars, the Jedi Master was involved with the Battles of Abregado and Felucia.
A question I hear on a frequent basis when the topic of Star Wars comes into the conversation is how Chancellor Palpatine managed to kill Saesee Tiin, Agen Kolar and Kit Fisto so easily and then also managing to match up against Mace Windu. I decided that it was a topic I was also intrigued by, so I decided to do a bit of digging to see what I could find and the results clear up so much.
A male Iktotchi born on the moon Iktotch, Saesee Tiin was eventually promoted to the rank of Jedi Master and appointed to a seat on the Jedi High Council prior to the blockade of Naboo by the Trade Federation.
Agen Kolar was a member of the Jedi Order in the Galactic Republic. In addition to being a member of the Order, Kolar was a Zabrak Jedi Master, a notable duelist, and also sat on the Jedi High Council.
Hailing from Nar Shaddaa, a crime-infested moon of the Outer Rim Territories, Eeth Koth was discovered to be Force-sensitive and accepted into the Jedi Order at the age of four.
Koth served as a member of the Jedi High Council around the time of the Battle of Naboo in 32 BBY and the reveal of the new Sith presence of Darth Sidious and his apprentice Darth Maul. The Zabrak Jedi Master was present when a nine-year-old Anakin Skywalker was presented to the council and tested by Mace Windu for his force abilities and midi-chlorian count. Because Koth had started his own training at an unusually late age, he was more receptive than his fellow councillors to Jinn’s appeal to train Skywalker.
Adi Gallia was a female Tholothian Jedi Master and a General in the Republic Army during the Clone Wars. She also had a seat on the Jedi High Council.
During the Clone Wars, Obi-Wan and Anakin tasked Adi with the rescue of Eeth Koth who was held hostage by General Grievous. Adi also assisted Obi-Wan with his investigation of the horned siblings Darth Maul and Savage Opress which led to her demise as the Nightbrother Savage Opress killed her during combat.
“I’ve learned that ‘trust’ is overrated. The only thing the Jedi Council believes in is violence!“
―Barriss Offee, expressing her views
Barriss Offee was a female Mirialan who trained as a Jedi Padawan under Jedi Master Luminara Unduli during the Clone Wars. At some point, she studied lightsaber techniques with Tutso Mara, and the two grew to become close. Barriss wasn’t a typical padawan, she would prefer to study ancient Jedi texts rather than being in the action. Barriss become close friends with Anakin Skywalker’s padawan Ahsoka Tano, and the pair began to share a lot of experience on the battlefield.
Even Piell was a male Lannik Jedi Master who served on the Jedi Council during the Invasion of Naboo and the Clone Wars. Even Piell was born on Lannik prior to the Clone Wars. He was found as a Force-sensitive and was taken to the Jedi temple where he was trained in the ways of the force. He went on to become a Jedi master as well as having a seat on the Jedi Council.
During the events of Episode I: The Phantom Menace, we discovered Captain Panaka, the security captain Queen Amidala’s forces. After the events of the film, Panaka was never seen again in the following films which left fans wondering what actually happened to him. Well, I have found the answers.
Aayla Secura is a Twi’Lek Jedi master most commonly known for serving as a general in the infamous Clone Wars.
Aayla Secura was trained as a Jedi Guardian which entailed her having to focus more on her combat skills and becoming an impressively skilled fighter. Secura’s lightsaber skills allowed her to survive the battle of Geonosis, hold her own against General Grievous, as well as overpowering the skilled bounty hunter Aurra Sing in a duel. She had also grown adept at unarmed fighting, especially while sparring with Commander Bly and she also survived an encounter with Dark Acolyte Asajj Ventress.
A red astromech droid, R5-D4 who was nearly sold to Owen Lars by the Jawa’s, alongside protocol droid C-3PO. R5’s motivator blew as he rolled away from the Sandcrawler, forcing the Jawas to take him back in exchange for R2-D2.
Lobot appeared in Episode V: The Emporer Strikes Back as Lando Calrissian’s executive assistant in Cloud City (Bespin). Since his arrival on screen, fans have always been intrigued by the character and he has even been described as Lando’s own Chewbacca.
2-1B was a 2-1B surgical droid that was a member of the Alliance to Restore the Republic. Along with FX-7, 2-1B was stationed at Echo Base on Hoth. The droid treated Luke Skywalker with bacta after he had been attacked by a Wampa during ‘Empire Strikes Back’. 2-1B also treated Skywalker after his hand was amputated in a duel with Darth Vader on Bespin.
Max Rebo was a male Ortolan from Orto and a popular musician who led the Max Rebo Band. He mainly played the red ball jett organ, which he played with his feet; he and his band often performed for criminals and otherwise sleazy clientele.
